Describing statistical Data – How to find the mode, median, and mean

Measuring data is important. We can describe data by use of mean, mode, median, and range. The mean, median, and mode are specific types of averages.

The mode is the value that occur the most; the mean is computed by adding all the numbers in the set and dividing the sum by the number of elements; and the median is the middle value in an ordered set of data.

Both the mean and median measure where the center of the data set lies. For this reason, it is possible for the mean and median to be the same.

Example:
Find the mode, median and mean for the following numbers.
20, 20, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, 26, 28, 28, 28, 29, 30

mode =28

median =26

mean = 25 (answer to the nearest whole number)
